The work is made of high-grade ice Jadeite with a pure sunny green color, with Guanyin as the main body, blended with the style of Chinese ink landscape painting. The layout of the work is exquisite, with the emerald green band skillfully carved into a bamboo grove growing alongside the lotus pond below, forming a beautiful gardening landscape, and at the same time conveying the purity and elegance of the lotus, and the uprightness and integrity of the bamboo, both of which are good virtues of a gentleman.
At the bottom, there is a small bridge with flowing water and a few houses, symbolizing the bustle of the world of mortals. However, if all beings are enlightened and have a connection with the Buddha, they will be like the five disciples of the Buddha standing on the side. The abstract faces of the disciples symbolize that if we have a heart for Buddha, then we are the epitome of countless people who have a heart for Buddha. Up above, you can see a flying elephant, which represents good fortune and also signifies that bravery is power.
Guanyin is seated on a lotus platform, from which a waterfall gushes down as if cleansing the world with pure water. Underneath the seat of Guanyin is the Shan Tsai, who has become the left guardian of Guanyin for practicing the truth and caring for the sufferings of the people. Nearby, there are incense burners and incense smoke, which is a sign of the reverence for Guanyin in folk beliefs. At the top is a temple building, symbolizing a Buddhist paradise.
On the lower back, the Taihu Lake stone is accompanied by a pine tree and a crane, symbolizing the longevity of the pine and the crane. The jade bamboo grove on the upper side echoes the bamboo grove on the front, and there are exquisite relief carvings of pavilions and figures, as well as several jade plums in full bloom, giving it a unique landscape painting atmosphere.
