The theme of this work is orchid and tying knots in a rope, displaying two features in one creation work. The jade set at the bottom is the foundation of entire creation, symbolizing a steady land and the natural energy. Extending the shape and color of raw gemstone, the color turn from dark tone into light one gradually, from bottom to top, and then you could see the orchid on the top looks so lithe, like bobbing in the wind. The net-like rope formed by a group of tiny lines embodies the image that unity is strength. The rope is created as the shape of Buddha's Hands, showcasing people's Buddha-nature wisdom. The hollow part carved with the Dharma Eye, symbolizing the compassion of Dharma and taking care of all living creatures. The rootstock of orchid twined along the rope (Buddha's Hands), implicating the Dharma cultivating for its growth.
A beautiful and outstanding flower will be born only if gathering together the energy of land and Dharma. Two varieties of orchids are presented in this work, one is the Moth Orchid and the other is the New Year's Orchid. Carving these two varieties of orchids symbolizes all living things are equal in front of the Dharma. Meanwhile, a noble and elegant flower, as known as the gentleman among the flowers, will be born only when people don't make any differential treatment based on the external material conditions and sincerely devotes themselves to spiritual cultivation. The inclusion of jade come from the nature is a unique and natural structure so it's not necessary to deliberately pack or cover up. Just like all living creatures have different physical appearances, but they all have the same Buddha nature. Looking for the fundamental truth of life depends on whether people return to their original minds.
The rootstock of orchid presents its vitality, but you can't find any will of survival either from its flower or leaf. Compared to the hard jade, the soft and slim aerial root creates a gentle and dynamic sense and showcases the vitality of plant growth. Three different textures of raw gemstone (land), rope and orchid are demonstrated through the three-dimensional sculpture and irregular openwork design, like coupling the strength and gentleness. The dew, decorated between flower and leaf, and the slowly moving snail are not just an expression of natural ecology but tells another message that you don't have to hurry for devoting yourself to spiritual cultivation. Your cause and conditions will come to you some day when having something you've experienced.
